About OUR Vision |
|
The founders of Orang Utan Republik (OUR) care about people and wildlife. We plan to market quality products from both the United States and Indonesia. The name Orang Utan Republik was chosen to symbolize orangutan kingdoms in exile, where their homeland or natural habitats are disappearing. We envision a time when orangutans have a homeland that is protected from destruction, where they are free to travel within the forests without persecution, and……… Free to be Wild. Orang Utan Republik embodies that vision we seek through responsible enterprise and international participation. Orangutans are intelligent and can learn the rudiments of language, however, they cannot speak for themselves. We need to inspire everyone to become a spokesperson for the species. |

Orangutan Facts
Orangutan mothers invest about 8 years with their offspring to insure they have the needed skills to survive in the wild.

Left: a young orangutan named Princess learned how to make signs in an unique study that took place in the species natural habitat-the forests of Tanjung Puting National Park, Indonesian Borneo (1978-1980). Princess learned how to name objects or ask for items or activities demonstrating orangutan intelligence. Princess is now an adult who has had four offspring and lives freely in the Tanjung Puting National Park forest. She represents one of many success stories in orangutan rehabilitation. |
